Candice’s Profile

Tell us about your background in physiotherapy.

I graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and started my career in public hospital in Hong Kong where I developed interest particularly in treating spinal and women’s health cases. I later obtained my master degree in Manipulative Physiotherapy in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It has provided me with specialised expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, emphasizing on clinical reasoning and the application of manual skills. After leaving the public hospital, I continued to apply my knowledge and experience to treat clients at the HKMU Physiotherapy Centre, while also conducting clinical practicum supervision.

What are your interests/areas of expertise in physiotherapy?

I work with clients with all musculoskeletal conditions and has an interest in neck and back pain, work related pain and sports related injuries. I am also experienced in managing women’s health conditions including pre & post-natal physiotherapy, lymphoedema management, breast cancer surgery rehabilitation, pelvic pain and continence care. I provide individualized treatment integrating manual therapy, acupuncture and exercise program to tackle clients with different conditions.

What is the most fulfilling part of this job?

The most fulfilling part of being a physiotherapist is seeing the positive impact I can have on a patient's recovery journey. Helping someone regain their mobility, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life is incredibly rewarding. It's not just about treating the physical symptoms but also building a trusting relationship with patients and empowering them to take control of their health and well-being.

Tell us about a life-changing experience or adventure you’ve been on.

In my first year of university, I participated in an AIESEC cultural exchange program in Oradea, Romania. I volunteered at a kindergarten for 10 weeks to provide educational and emotional support to children. This experience was both exciting and challenging, which pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, building my confidence, resilience, and independence. This experience also sparked my love for adventure and traveling to different countries. It’s something I now carry with me in my personal and professional life, helping me stay open-minded and adaptable in any environment and enhancing my ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

What are your personal interests?

In my leisure time, I love staying active with yoga, Pilates, hiking, and water sports like wake surfing and diving. These activities not only keep me physically fit but also allow me to connect with nature and challenge myself in new ways. I’m also a foodie, always excited to try new recipes or explore new restaurants. Travelling is another a big passion of mine, as I enjoy exploring new places and immersing myself in different cultures.
