Dickson’s Profile

Background in Physiotherapy

I graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University obtaining First Class Honours and Dean’s Honours List. I started my career in private settings in Hong Kong. I gained thorough experience in managing a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, sports rehabilitation, post-operative rehabilitation, and vestibular rehabilitation.

After graduation, I have continued my studies into different areas of physiotherapy, including acupuncture, strength and conditioning, spinal manipulation, and TMJ disorders, aiming to expand my treatment tools and provide the best treatment to my patients.

Apart from clinic work, I continued to apply my knowledge and experience to my on-field work. I am currently the team physiotherapist working with the PolyU Women Basketball team and HKFA Youth Representative Team. I have also worked with the USRC Tigers Rugby team and International Tennis Federation during the Hong Kong Tour before.

Interests/ areas of expertise in physiotherapy

I treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and have special interest in spinal pain, sports injuries, work-related pain, and jaw pain. I utilize an integrated approach combining manual therapy, acupuncture, and specific rehabilitation exercises to provide an individualised intervention after comprehensive assessment.

I am also experienced in treating vestibular dysfunction, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, vestibular hypofunction, and cervicogenic dizziness

What are your interests

I enjoyed all kinds of sports, swimming, basketball, football, racing, etc. The one that I have been playing and training the most is tennis. I am currently competing in the A+ league in HK. I enjoy making friends through tennis and the mental side of the game where I have to stay calm under adverse situations. It does strengthen my mentality. Recently I have started a bit of karting too as I am a big F1 fan.

What is the most fulfilling part of this job

I find it very rewarding and meaningful to help my patients on their rehabilitation journey. I am grateful that I am able to get my athletes back to peak performance and office workers to get rid of pain.

I also found that bonding with my patients is also very fulfilling, I really enjoy making genuine connections and making friends with my patients!

Life-changing experiences

When I was studying in high school, I was part of the school’s basketball team. We attended a week-long training camp focused on skill development and teamwork. Filled with excitement and nerves, I realized that this camp was about much more than basketball.

Through intense drills and team-building exercises, I learned the importance of communication and trust. A memorable challenge was a high ropes course that pushed you to confront my fear of heights. Standing atop the platform, I found the courage in the support of my teammates, realizing that overcoming fears is much easier together.

The shared experiences, laughter, and late-night talks forged deep bonds among the team, taught me that true teamwork is about empathy and collective strength — lessons that would stay with you beyond the basketball court.
